Color Catalogue Help

I created this catalogue because I needed a simple color picker with a basic palette. It is not intended to be an exact representation of any particular color scheme, but rather a starting point for color choice.

The colors are an amalgamation of the X11 color list (rgb.txt), CSS colors, Web safe colors, and early Apple Macintosh icon colors. I have removed duplicate colors and the X11 numbered grays, and made alterations to some of the RGB and CMYK values to create a more compact and organized layout. The colors that result may have some slight deviations, but in most cases are virtually indistinguishable from the originals.

The table layout is based on the cyan, magenta, yellow, black (CMYK) color model. Values across the top gray row are percent black (K). Values along the left side are hue (in parentheses) and C,M,Y values. An asterisk (*) after the hue indicates that the calculated value is a whole number. All other hue values are rounded to the nearest integer.

Each color cell contains a color sample, color name, hexadecimal value, and equivalent RGB values.

Color names are from the X11 color scheme, with codes in parentheses to indicate additional color sources:
• (A) Apple icon colors
• (W) Web-safe colors
• (C) CSS colors

To save column space, some of the X11 names are abbreviated:
    Dk – Dark  •  Med – Medium  •   Lt – Light

To reconstruct the correct X11 name, replace the abbreviation with its equivalent word. For example, DkOrchid3 would become DarkOrchid3.

CSS colors are described in detail in the Mozilla developer documentation at Cascading Style Sheets: <color>. CSS color names are not case-sensitive. See also X11 color names and Web colors in Wikipedia.
